The Story
47 Countries.
One 30L Bag.
Why V1 Active exists — and why you should never have to choose which weather you're prepared for.
I spent years backpacking through 47 countries with nothing but a 30L bag. Every trip started with the same impossible question: which jacket? The parka was too warm for the tropics, and hard to pack and bulky in Europe. The raincoat did nothing in the cold. The hoodie was useless in a storm. Pack two and you've lost a third of your bag — so you wear them onto the plane, or tie them around your waist, and commit to being wrong somewhere or leaving it behind in the middle of your trip.
And whichever one you chose, it spent most of the trip doing nothing. Dead weight between storms.
In a 30L life, nothing gets to be just one thing.
The RoamCoat exists to end both problems. A 700g fully seam-taped shell that works alone in the rain, over insulation in the cold, and packs into its own waist pocket when the sun's out. It serves multiple-purposes, an emergency pillow, a laptop/camera gear protector in the rain, a blanket, a snuggie, a changing robe in hostels or at the beach, an extra personal item duffle bag for added storage, a day pack on a hike or around the city. The Roamcoat is built to ROAM even when not used as a coat.
Multi-Use
Never Dead Weight
Packed, it doesn't disappear into your bag — it becomes part of your kit. A pillow on the overnight flight. A knee-length layer draped over you in a cold cabin. A clean surface between you and wherever you're sitting.
You shouldn't have to choose which weather you're prepared for — and what you carry should earn its place even when you're not wearing it.
